When doing genealogy research you also get interested by the time they lived
in, specially by a local history perspective. On my father's father's side my
ancestors originates from Ljustorp, northwest of the city of Sundsvall.
Here are some local historic events from that area:
Local history of the city of Sundsvall and the province
of Medelpad
The county of Västernorrland (Y)
I'm also researching my wife Britt's ancestors:
Britt's ancestors comes from the county of Södermanland (D).

At the large manors in Mälardalen (central Sweden) it was very common with
"statare" (agricultural laborer receiving allowance (payment) in kind). If
you have ancestors in these parts it's very likely that you will come across
ancestors that has been statare.

Genealogy association that I'm a member of:
In order to keep track of your ancestors in a Pedigree chart you
have to number them. There are many different systems to number ancestors but
the most commonly used is the Hager's system.
Each generation after the start person gets a generation number in Roman digits.
The father and mother to the start person are generation I. The next generation,
grand parents are generation II, and the next generation III etc.
Each person in respective generation will be numbered with Arab digits. You
start with the father and then the mother etc. Father is I-1,
Mother I-2, FF II-1,
FM II-2, MF II-3, MM II-4, FFF III-1, FFM III-2, FMF III-3, FMM III-4, MFF
III-5, MFM III-6, MMF III-7, MMM III-8 etc.
This is the system I use.
Is it OK to copy material (text or images) from this page or from any
other page on this site and publish it on my own homepage?
The answer is NO! However, it is OK to have a link to my pages.
