About me

My name is Hans Högman and I was born in 1951 in Sundsvall, Sweden. Sundsvall is a city by the coast about 400 km (240 miles) north of Stockholm. It's in the province of Medelpad and the county of Västernorrland. I'm married to Britt and we live in Sollentuna just north of Stockholm. We have a house in Sollentuna and a summer house ("sommarstuga") by Lake Mälaren. With two houses and two gardens you are never out of work. Professionally I've been in the IT business as a programmer/analyst and a database administrator. After I finished my studies in computer science at Uppsala University I was employed by IBM Sweden in June 1974 as a system analyst. During my time at IBM I was on an assignment to IBM UK (Cosham at the south coast of England) for three years. I left IBM in June 1986 to work as an IT consultant for Techno Logic and later CAP Gemini specializing in DB2, a Relational Database from IBM. Between January 1995 and December 2012, I was employed by SEB IT as a DBA (Database Administrator) working as a product specialist on DB2 on mainframe and workstations. SEB is a major bank in Sweden. I retired early on January 1, 2013. Genealogy and Swedish history are areas of special interest to me.
